Puppy Plan 2025 arrives as we expected, this time we firmly added the year in its title, signifying that it is being given more possibilities for this art journey with our collector friends. This year's Puppy Plan was initiated by Ms. Yoyo Shang and Qianqian, Yoyo invited her close friends to participate and they all generaously shared a series of works from their collections to exhibit.
In Yoyo's view, woman does not represent just a gender, nor a binary opposition of sexes, it is a non-linear way of thinking. Women embody subjectivity, inclusivity, and perpetual power of choice and voice. Half a year ago, when Yoyo and Qianqian discussed about this year's Puppy Plan, Yoyo mentioned a quote that had been lingering in her mind: 'The flames of earth are surely worth celestial perfumes' (Albert Camus, The Myth of Sisyphus). This quote may become a fitting footnote and guide to our confusing, uncertain life: despite the pain that come with the aubsurdities of existence, the real, earthy life is still worth living.
Whether from the works of artists like Tracey Emin and Miriam Cahn, which express a sense of female subjectivity, or from simple depictions of 'everyday life' by Bay Area artist Lin Ruonan, this exhibition emphasises not just femininity or feminism, we hope to amplify the light wisdom behind the term, as well as the emotions, love and strength that each work encompasses.
Puppy Plan 2025 also attempts to present a spirit where collectors see a world similar to their own in these works, a work they feel deeply connected to. To some extent, these exhibits also reflect the unique characteristics of southern female collectors: light-hearted, free, encompassing a lot of things. They live by the sea, always looking outward while also reflecting oneself, full of possibilities.
